THE CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY OF THE FIRST BATCH The first batch of students of The Learning Centre completed their various programmes on the 10th and 11th of September. This occasion was celebrated with a Certificate Distribution Ceremony on Friday, the 13th of September in the Management Training Center. All the students from the morning, afternoon and evening programmes collected in the MTC at 6.30 pm. There were over 125 of them. One of the students, Mr. Ebrahim Jeewa, was asked to be the Master of Ceremonies and he conducted the entire function on his own admirably. This is a testament to what can be achieved at the Centre. The first batch of students comprised of the following programmes: GENERAL PROFICIENCY
The programme started off with the Tilawat of the Holy Quran, followed by speeches from the Manager Programmes, Mr.Mehdiali Dharamsey, and President of the Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. Mohsin Tejani. Two of the faculty members, Ms. Jamila Sheraz and Mr. Robin Alfred, also spoke on the occasion. They all emphasized the importance of education and learning and the need to continue on the road to learning and awareness. The high point of the ceremony was the speeches and feedback by the students. One of the students of the Business English programme informed the audience that he had recently got a job because of his newly acquired presentation skills. Another, a student of the Pre Intermediate said she had gained the confidence to speak in front of such a large audience and not be afraid to make a few mistakes. One of the students of the English for Mothers & Housewives programme said that she was able to think more clearly and hold a simple conversation in English, something she could not do previously. It was indeed a highly gratifying and emotional moment to see the students express their feelings in such an articulate way. To give a fitting end to the ceremony, the students’ names were called out one by one and they received their certificates from Mr. Mohsin Tejani. The function ended with a vote of thanks after which refreshments were served.
